About Music In Motion

Music In Motion was founded in 1984 by Michael Fernino in Ansonia, Connecticut. The son of a music professor, Mike and his father Michael Fernino Sr. started the business with a few small crates of records and some big dreams. Coming from a music background and with his father’s experience from playing in a wedding band, Mike performed his first wedding at the age of 15.

In 1989, Mike’s younger brother Steve joined in as his assistant and the two performed together as one of Connecticut’s very first 2 person Disc Jockey teams. In 1990, Mike hired long time DJ colleague and friend David Fontaine who became the company’s first additional DJ. During the 90s, Music In Motion saw an expansion which included up to 16 Disc Jockeys and over 500 events a year performed.

In 2001, Music In Motion relocated to its current offices located at 483 North Main Street in Seymour, Connecticut. It was also around this time that Music In Motion took a step into becoming a full service entertainment group by adding a live music division featuring classical and jazz musicians. A few years later, lighting, photo booth and videography divisions were added to embrace popular trends in the events and wedding entertainment industries.
